The Jesus Storybook Bible

“For from him and through him and to him are all things.”  Romans 11:36

Our family just loves the Jesus Storybook Bible.  Every story points back to Jesus.  It not only teaches and reminds our kids about God’s plan of redemption, but reminds us as well.  It is so helpful and gospel centered.

Awaiting the Lord

As our hearts await the coming Savior, we love watching this beautiful, moving video.
The Story of Christmas, a film by Chris Powers

{The Story of Christmas, a film by Chris Powers}

I am grieved but not surprised at how quickly my heart turns from the Lord.  What a precious joy and visual reminder this film is, of who God is and of his tender and mighty love for me.  And how urgently we must trust and believe in him.
May the Lord be near as you treasure Him, or find Him, this Christmas.

Every Life {Is} Beautiful

Every Life {Is} Beautiful and its companion movie October Baby are not only incredibly captivating and insightful; God is using them to literally save lives.  This is one of my absolute favorite movies and celebrates the blessing of life as a sacred, beautiful gift from the Lord.

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.  (Psalm 127:3 ESV)

Evidences of God’s Grace

(We started writing evidences of God’s grace that we see in each other in a central area in our home to encourage and bless one another.)

Expressing evidences of God’s grace that you see in people’s lives is powerful.  Rather than thinking about negative aspects of a person, remember that we are no better than them.  We are all sinners in need of God’s grace; we need to believe in Jesus and his death on the cross and repent of our sin to be saved.  God promises that when we do, we are made new; a brand new creation.  That gives me hope.

We can do no good apart from him.

So when we see good in others, we know that it is because of Him.  I’d encourage you to find ways to bless those you love (and those you find it hard to love) with words of encouragement.  It will not only touch them, but the Lord may change your heart in the process.
